A dark, empty city street at night with a single car driving away under street lamps
Keyless theft is the modern epidemic

Your key never leaves the house. Your car still does.

Relay theft lets criminals clone your key's signal from your doorstep, unlock the car and drive off — silently, in under a minute. The Pandora Microbot is a next-generation immobiliser that breaks that chain: without your radio tag, the car simply won't start or move.

The uncomfortable truth

The safer cars get, the easier they are to take.

Keyless entry was sold as convenience. But the same signal that unlocks your car for you can be intercepted, amplified and replayed by someone standing in the street. No skill, no noise, no trace — just a pair of cheap relay boxes and a few seconds. Factory alarms were never designed for this.

Anatomy of a relay attack

How keyless theft works — in under a minute.

Two people. Two relay devices. Your key sitting safely on the hall table. Here's the whole thing, start to finish.

0–15 seconds

Signal scanned

One thief stands by your house with a relay box that picks up the faint signal your key gives off — even from inside, through a wall or door.

15–30 seconds

Signal relayed

That signal is beamed to a second box held at the car, tricking it into believing the real key is right beside it.

30–45 seconds

Doors open

The car unlocks and the start button comes alive. No alarm, no forced entry — to the car, this looks like you.

Under a minute

Gone

They drive away. By the time anyone notices, the car is streets away — and a factory immobiliser hasn't done a thing.

Microbot breaks step 3 The relay can fool the car's locks — but the cloned signal alone won't move the car. The Microbot demands your radio tag, and without it stays immobilised on both the digital (CAN-bus) and analogue circuits.
See it for yourself

See how keyless theft works.

Ninety seconds that change how you think about parking on your own drive. This is exactly how it's done — and why it fails on a Microbot car, where no radio tag means no movement.

What stops it — and what doesn't

A standard car vs a Microbot car.

Factory alarm & rival systems

Built for a different era of theft.

  • A relayed or cloned key starts and drives a standard car straight away
  • No second factor — if the car is "unlocked", it starts
  • Rival immobilisers block the digital (CAN-bus) circuit only
  • Many rely on a phone app or Bluetooth — another thing to hack
  • Tracker-based systems charge a monthly subscription
Pandora Microbot

Built for how cars are stolen now.

  • No radio tag, no movement — a relayed or cloned key gets nowhere
  • Authorises only with your tag present; PIN backup via the car's own buttons
  • Dual blocking — digital (CAN-bus) and analogue circuit
  • No app and no Bluetooth — so there's nothing to hack
  • No subscription for core protection
Layered defence

Six lines of defence in one small unit.

Radio-tag authorisation

Your car only starts and drives with your radio tag present. No tag, no movement — and a PIN entered on the car's own buttons works as your backup.

Blocks keyless & relay theft

A relayed or amplified key signal might fool the locks, but it can't authorise the car. Without your tag, the Microbot keeps it immobilised.

Blocks key cloning & ECU swap

Even a cloned key or a swapped engine control unit won't move the car. The Microbot still demands your tag before it releases.

Dual digital + analogue blocking

Where rival systems block only the digital (CAN-bus) circuit, the Microbot blocks both the digital and the analogue circuit for a harder stop.

Anti-hijack protection

An anti-hijack mode helps protect against the car being taken from you while it's running — re-securing it without your tag.

Concealed, no LED, no subscription

Fitted out of sight with no flashing LED or external signs, integrated via CAN with no wire-cutting — and no subscription for core protection.

From a real owner
"They tried the relay trick on my drive at 3am. They got the doors open — but the car didn't move an inch. Without my tag, it just wouldn't go."

Straight answers

Before you decide.

Is my car a target?
If it has keyless entry or push-button start, it's the kind of car relay thieves look for — and high-demand makes and models are targeted most. But you don't need a prestige car to be at risk: any vehicle with a remote key can be probed. If you're unsure, your installer can tell you how exposed your exact model is.
Does it really stop relay theft?
The Microbot is built specifically for this attack. Even if a relayed signal fools the car's locks, the cloned key alone can't authorise the car — only your radio tag can — so it won't start or drive away. It blocks the car on both the digital (CAN-bus) and analogue circuits. No security is ever absolute, but it's designed to break the exact chain a relay attack depends on.
Will it help with my insurance?
It may. Some insurers look favourably on a professionally fitted, quality security system, and a few ask for one on higher-value vehicles. We can't promise a discount or guarantee acceptance — always check directly with your own insurer, as policies differ.
Can it locate my car after a theft?
The Microbot is built to stop your car being driven away in the first place — it's an immobiliser, not a tracker. If you also want the ability to locate a vehicle after a theft, a tracker can be fitted alongside it.
Will I notice it day to day?
Not really — that's the point. It's concealed and works in the background, arming automatically with no extra fobs to carry. You carry on as normal, and there's a valet/service mode for handing the car over without your tag.
How is it fitted?
By an approved Pandora installer, usually in a single visit. It integrates via the car's CAN wiring with no wire-cutting, is hidden out of sight with no LED, and every function is tested before you drive away.
